Woody's

(124 Ratings)
Must stop lounge/dance bar
A multitude of rooms caters to the different moods of Woody's patrons. Get drinks and people-watch in the main bar, have a cozy conversation in the pub room, or get a latte in the Coffee bar. Make your way upstairs to the video bar, then move to the dance floor to get your groove on.

Upstairs

Definitely worth paying for the upstairs part--not a huge dancer but such a fun place and great dancefloor. Loved it so much that we went back the second night! Good crowd and so much less pretentious than NYC!

Awesome hang-out for the Madonna 2008 After-party!

This was the 1st dance bar that my buddy & I went to after seeing Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet Tour" at Wachovia Center. The place was PACKED, down & upstairs!!! And we saw SEVERAL concert-goers, esp. the one guy with the rainbow-studded t-shirt with Madonna's name on it. The next day, we had lunch at Woody's & what a different setting from the bar crowd!! The food was awesome, & drinks were strong. I definitely have to come back soon. --XOXO

The Last of the Philadelphia Gay Scene

Philadelphia a city known for spearheading independence has lost it's flavorful gay pride allure. In the days of Smarts, The Nile, Stars, and Woody's, the latter was the only one to survive on Philadelphia's gay 13th Street. The strip has been taken over by restaurants and bars that aren't gay owned and turned this once gay filled area straight for the most part. Woody's though is still there standing strong with a complete makeover and food menu that is excellent. The 18 and over Wednesday situation is great to introduce younger gay men to the club scene. I highly recommend this place if you visit Philadelphia.

Great happy hour

I haven't been to Woody's after the sun has gone down. However, they do have a great happy hour. Can't beat $2 pints in the Philly Gayborhood. They also have the best daytime bartender east of the Mississippi River.... "just put some vaseline on it and you'll be fine!" I hope I can go here to dance sometime.
